  Mrs. Godfrey Zittlow, nee Ernestine Schmeideknecht, a well known old settler, died at her home on the west side, Tuesday evening at 7 o'clock after a few weeks' illness with the grip. She is survived by her husband and five children, two sons Fred and Gustave of the town of Lawrence, and three daughters, Mrs. Owen Mackin of Menasha, Mrs. C. Holtz Barron and Mrs. Albert Kersten of Kaukauna. Decedent was born in Germany and was 75 years of age at the time of death. The funeral will be held from St. John's Lutheran church Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. F.C. Uetzmann officiated, with interment at the Lutheran cemetery.

  Mr. and Mrs. Godfrey Zittlow highly esteemed pioneers, celebrated their Golden wedding at the old homestead in the town of Lawrence near Ridge Point. Mr. and Mrs. Zittlow were married in March 1863 in the first Lutheran church built in Green Bay and were also the first couple married in that church. Immediately after their marriage they made their home on the old homestead in Lawrence. Their union was blessed with five children, Fred and Gustav, Emma (Mrs. Owen Mackin) of Menasha, Louise (Mrs. Chas. Holz) of Barron, and Hannah (Mrs. A. Kersten) of Kaukauna, who were all present at the celebration besides 19 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Seven years ago Mr. and Mrs. Zittlow moved to the village and took up their residence on the west side. They are both 73 years of age, still hale and hearty and their many friends wish them many more years of happy wedded life.
