  Mathias was the son of Mathias and Anna Weins Zeltinger. Mathias Jr. married Maria (Mary) Heindl 23 Jan. 1883 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Newburg, Washington Co., WI. Mathias and Mary were the parents of: Anna Maria, Mathias Joseph (Joe), Bernard (Ben) Nickolas, Marie (Mary) Barbara, Frank Mathias, Katherina (Kate) Maria, Matthew (Mathias), Barbara Mathilda (Tillie), Andrew Mathias, and Johanna (Hanna) Katherina Zeltinger. Mathias Zeltinger Sr. Mathias Zeltinger, Sr., passed away at his home in Newburg last Thursday, May 24, at one o'clock in the morning. Two days previous he suffered a paralytic stroke, and he lingered until death relieved him. Deceased was born March 6, 1860, at Trier, Rhine Province, Germany, and came to America at the age of seven years, his family settling in the town of Trenton. He married Miss Mary Heindl in 1883. They made their home on a farm and 15 years ago moved to Newburg. He leaves his widow and the 11 children born to them, namely: Anna (Mrs. Nic. Schuman) of Newburg, Joseph of West Allis, Ben of the town of Trenton, Mary of Milwaukee, Frank of North Milwaukee, Frances (Mrs. Frank Miller) of Newburg, Catherine (Mrs. Fred Krahn) of West Allis, Mathias Jr. of West Bend, Mathilda (Mrs. Geo. Kimla) of Newburg, Andrew of West Allis, and Johanna (Mrs. John Maurer) of Plymouth. He also leaves twenty grand-children. Mr. Zeltinger was a good a man as may be found anywhere. The sturdy righteousness and candor of his character and his ever pleasant ways could not fail to win many friends for him. His family life was exemplary, following the Christian ideal in every important point. The village of Newburg in his death loses one of its most valued and beloved citizens. A kind and honored memory will be preserved for him. [newspaper and date unknown]
