  Catherine "Katie" Quella, age 80, formerly of Appleton, a resident of the Stevens Point area since 1970, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, May 22, 2008, in Stevens Point, from complications due to Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease. Services for Katie will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church in Buena Vista. Rev. Dan Farley will officiate. Burial will be in the St Joseph Cemetery in Appleton. Visitation will be Monday evening from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Plover - Shuda Family Funeral Home at 2400 HWY B in Plover, WI. A scriptural prayer service will take place at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will also take place on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. A memorial in lieu of flowers will be established in her name for the Capuchin Franciscans (of which her brother the Rev. Anthony was a member). Katie was born May 25, 1927, in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Albert and Odelia (Lefeber) Will. She attended schools in Menasha and graduated from Menasha St. Mary's High School. She worked for Wisconsin Bell in Appleton for nine years. She married Benedict Quella on November 21, 1953, at St Joseph Catholic Church in Appleton. The couple resided in Appleton until 1970 when they moved to Plover where they lived for 15 years until moving to Stevens Point for a short while. In 1987 the couple moved to Bancroft where they have resided since. Katie worked at Sentry Insurance for 13 years until she retired in 1989. She was active in her church at St. Patrick's and was a member of the Women's group, she also enjoyed gardening, and was a former Lioness. Katie is survived by her husband Ben; their five children: Tony (Debbie) Quella, Stevens Point; Tim (Beth) Quella, Bancroft; Mark (fiance' Judy) Quella, Boston, MA; Peter Quella, Madison; Sara (Tony) Brummel, Madison. Two daughter in laws: Ann Duesterbeck, Milton; Leandra Quella, Fenton, MI. One sister: Marie (Robert) Heinze, Appleton, nine grandchildren: Abra, Evan, Michael, Paul, IsaBeall, Lydia, Emmalie, Benji, and Alex. One great granddaughter: Meredith. She was preceded in death by her parents; four sons: Richard, David, Steven, and Michael; and two brothers James and Rev. Anthony.
