  ELISE J. MERKEL Mrs. Elise J. Merkel, 79, a former Sheboygan resident and widow of William, died Monday at a Waukesha nursing home following a lengthy illness. She was born in Germany on April 1, 1893, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Henning. She came to the United states with her parents as a child. Mrs. Merkel lived in Sheboygan until 1943 when she moved to Milwaukee. Her husband died on Oct. 14,1972. Survivors are four sons, Wilbert of Howards Grove, Raymond, William and Roger, all Milwaukee, and Robert of Memphis, Tenn.; five daugh- ters, Mrs. Charles (Aurelia) Strysick, Mrs. Robert (Rosel- la) Baeten, Mrs. Pearl Savinski and Miss Shirley Merkel, all of Milwaukee, and Mrs. Kenneth (Betty) Leichtle of Muskego; five sisters, Mrs. Elsie Krust, Mrs. Marie Russel, Mrs. Martha Gruenke, Mrs. Frieda Otto and. Mrs. Ottelia Durow, all of Sheboygan, and a brother, August Henning, Sheboygan. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Jelacic Funeral Home, 5639 W. Hampton Ave., Milwaukee, The Rev. Benjamin Elger will officiate. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery here. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Page 10 Sheboygan Press, Tuesday, Jan. 16, 1973
