Kelly, Claudia "Jean" On Tuesday, November 8, 2016, Claudia "Jean" Kelly, age 91, went to the Lord surrounded by the love of her family. Jean was born on February 18, 1925 in Janesville, to the late Claude Patrick and Nina Margaret (Fagen) Small. She graduated from Fond du Lac High School in 1943. On April 25, 1947, Jean married John Joseph Kelly at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Hortonville. John and Jean spent 46 years of married life running a successful dairy farm in Medina and antiqued the countryside looking for countless treasures. While Jean lived in a number of places, she always called Medina "home". Jean's great passion was her love for sewing. She taught herself to sew at a very young age. Her senior year in High School she won first place at the Wisconsin State Fair for a suit she tailored. Jean was a master seamstress and an equally gifted hand quilter. Another great passion was her love of music and dance. She was often heard saying "Oh how I love to boogie woogie!" Jean loved her family and cherished her 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Jean's family extended well beyond her nuclear family and included many, many beloved friends. They enriched her life in countless ways. She was an active member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Hortonville and her faith was central in her life. She was active in the communities of Medina and the Town of Dale. She was also active in a number of quilting clubs. Jean will always be remembered for her love of people and her vitality of life. Jean is survived by her children, Dick (Pat) Kelly, John (Marcia) Kelly, Nina (Paul) Snyder Trigg; daughter-in-law, Donna Kelly; grandchildren, Sara (Michael) Mahlin, Matthew (Jen) Kelly, Peter (Joslyn) Kelly, Susan (Loran) Schuelke, Vicki (John) Lautenschlager, Nick (Kristin) Kelly, Tyler (Emilee) Kelly, Steven (Emily) Kelly, Alex Kelly, Brandon Snyder; 14 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Jean is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews and many other loving relatives and friends. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Joseph Kelly; sister, Patricia Ann Basler and son, Michael Patrick Kelly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church (105 N. Olk St.) in Hortonville. Msgr. Fr. James Feely and Parish Director Greg Layton will be officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service directly at the church on Thursday. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Jean's loving family at Willow Lane Assisted Living for the "big heart care" she received each and every day of her life there. May the Irish hills caress you. May her lakes and rivers bless you. May the luck of the Irish enfold you. May the blessing of Saint Patrick behold you.
