  Notes	Gottfried Zuelhke was born in Vuddo, Province of Pomer, Germany Feb. 7 1810 and died in New London, WI July 14, 1895. He and his wife Herietta are buried in the Union Cemetery in Hortonville, WI. Gottfried came to this country in 1855 with his wife and family. They landed in New York, then to New London, WI via Green Bay, WI. He was so captivated with the many inducements and climate that he purchased 160 acres of land two miles south of New London (then a small village) for $800. Nine children were born to them; August, the oldest son was a professor in on of the colleges in Saxony and never visited the USA; Julius, William, Herman and Gustave came over with their parents. There was a young son (about 7 years of age) who died in Hortonia and three sons died in infancy.
