  Melvin Arthur "Papa" Kamke, age 75, died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, May 30, 2012. Melvin was born January 26, 1937 in the town of Center Valley son of the late Edward and Elsie (Koehler) Kamke. He attended Hortonville area schools and was united in marriage to Evelyn Delzer in New London on September 10, 1966. Mel was employed with the Hortonville Toy Company for several years before Melvin and Marvin Owned and Operated Pleasant View Tavern in Bear Creek. He also was a baker for a few years with Tastee Bakery of Appleton and then worked at Mark's East Side Supper Club. Following retirement Papa worked as a caregiver for his granddaughter, Ashley Wilson. What was most important to Papa were his grandchildren. Melvin is lovingly survived by his wife, Evelyn of 45 year; his children, Matthew (Tina) Kamke, Appleton; Tammy (David) Wilson, Kaukauna; Robin (Sara) Kamke, Neenah; April Kamke, Appleton; Teresa (Donald) Verhoven, Neenah; and Tracy (Steve) Kamke, Appleton; His grandchildren, Brett, Bradley, Ashley, Baba (Tori), Kaylee, Tera, Shawn, Rebecca, Ethan, and Destiny, a sister, Erna (Edward) Steffen, Greenville; his twin brother, Marvin (Ginger) Kamke, Appleton; a sister-in-law, Mary Kamke, and a brother-in-law, Dan Henry, nieces and nephews, Tasha Verhoven, Donald Verhoven, Jr., and Jacob Kamke. Papa was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence and Robert Kamke and a sister-in-law, Maxine Kamke. The funeral service for Melvin will be held 1:00 PM on Monday, June 4, 2012 at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Hortonville Union Cemetery. Mel's family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday at the funeral home from 3-7 PM and again on Monday from 11 AM until the hour of service.
