  Rogers, ThomThomas W. Rogers, Sr., to know him is to love him, age 81, returned ho me to his creator and Lord on Thursday September 28, 2006. Tom was born Ap ril 4, 1925, to William and Edna (Malliet) Rogers in Appleton, WI. Tom w as united in marriage to Arlene West on August 17, 1946, and they recent ly celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. During his marriage he was e mployed at Consolidated Papers, Inc. of Appleton until the age of 57. He t hen was employed at Community First Credit Union for 10 years. Tom serv ed in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1946 in the South Pac ific.Tom is survived by his wife (and best friend) Arlene Rogers (West); eig ht children: Dave (Suzanne) Rogers, Appleton; Robert (Diane) Rogers, Apple ton; Mary Kay (Jerry) Deering, Brownsville, TX; Brittney Linda (Jerry) Phi llips, Oshkosh; Karen (Keith) Kaphingst, Oconomowoc, WI; Rick (Lynn) Roger s, Appleton; Tom (Tammy) Rogers, Appleton; Jim Rogers, Menasha; brother, J ohn Rogers, Appleton; and sister, Shirley Jeffers, New London; 20 grandchi ldren; 32 great-grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews; step si sters: Pat Brockman, Appleton; Betty (Howie) Kiefer, Marinette,WI; brother s-in-law, Bud (Jeannine) West, Appleton; Norb (Carol) West, Appleton; Bob( Betty) West , Sun City West, Arizona.Tom was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather, James Malliet; E rvin Portman and Dean Jeffers (brothers-in-law); Lola Schneider, Marie Wes t, Val Portman and Mary Rogers (sisters-in-law); step brother-in-law, Gord on Brockman.A funeral mass will be celebrated Monday, October 2, 2006, at 11 a.m. at S t. Mary Parish, 312 S. State St., Appleton with Fr. Michael O'Rourke offic iating. Visitation will be Sunday, October 1, 2006, from 4 to 7 p.m. at S t. Mary Parish and Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. There wi ll be a 6:30 p.m. prayer service at church on Sunday. A memorial fund is b eing established.We sincerely wish to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Elizabe th Hospital for their tender care and compassion for Dad and our family.
