  Chilton – Robert Portmann, 86, died suddenly this morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Anna Schumacher, Hilbert. He was born Sept. 3, 1854, in Germany, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Portmann. He located in the town of Stockbridge with his parents as an infant. He married Miss Anna Groeschel 66 years ago in Charlesburg. She died in 1888. (sic) A year later he married Mrs. Anna Reuter Groeschel, who passed away six years ago. Mr. Portman was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Elizabeth's church, Kloten. Survivors are the following children, Joseph of Kloten, Mrs. Mary Melchoir, city, Mrs. Rose Wettstein, Wahpeton, N. Dak., Mrs. Anna Schumacher, Hilbert, Frank, Town Stockbridge, Mrs. John Mainz, Brothertown, Henry of Stockbridge, William and Mrs. Leo Parrie, Chilton; 36 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; two brothers and one sister, Al of Stockbridge, Otto of Chilton and Mrs. Michael Gerhards of New Holstein. Two children, Gertrude and Lena preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at St. Elizabeth's church, Kloten, the Rev. Ed Kilsdonk officiating, with burial in Kloten cemetery.
