  Donald C. Fischer, 79, Appleton, died at Cherry Meadows Hospice on Friday, Sept. 12, 2008. Donald was born on Nov. 30, 1928, in Appleton, to the late Arthur and Mabel (Deeg) Fischer. He married Virginia Heins on May 19, 1951, in Appleton. Donald was a loving husband, father and uncle. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force in Germany during World War II. Donald was a printer by profession. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Virginia; his sister, Mary (John) Allen, Florida; his brothers, Bob Fischer, Montana; John (Betty) Fischer, Appleton; and David (Marcy) Fischer, Minnesota; his sister-in-law, Marge (Ed) Alesch, Texas, and their children John Alesch, and Edward (Becky) Alesch, also of Texas; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Steven Fischer, in 2006. The family would like to thank the staff at Cherry Meadows Hospice, all of his caregivers during his illness at home, and his dear neighbors Lisa and Robin, for their loving care. Private funeral services were held. A memorial has been established in his name to benefit Cherry Meadows Hospice. Wichmann Funeral Home 537 N.
