  Sister Rita Lawrence Selissen, CSJ., passed to her eternal reward on July 12, 2008, at St. Vincent Hospital, fortified by the sacraments of the Roman Catholic Church and surrounded by the prayers of her family and church. Sister was born Elizabeth Ann Selissen, daughter of Laverne Joachim and Lawrence Selissen, on May 26, 1938. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy in 1956 and entered the order of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. She earned a masters degree in music education and taught vocal and instrumental music in schools in St. Louis, Mo., and Denver, Colo. A staunch traditional Catholic, Sister returned home 23 years ago and though hard of hearing, she organized the catechism classes, directed the choir, played the organ and was sacristan of St. Michael's Church in West De Pere, until failing health demanded her retirement. Sister is survived by her mother, Laverne Selissen; sisters, Sister Jean Paul, CSJ., (Barbara), Mary Jo and Ken Gerrits, Jean and Ron Mooren, Kathy Paque, Rita and Steve Lacenski, Ann and Dan Shibler; and brothers, Bill and Terry Selissen and David and Kris Selissen; along with numerous nieces and nephews, and the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Carondelet. She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Selissen; a brother-in-law, David Paque; a nephew, Stephen Paque; and a special niece, Carmel Klara Ullmer. Friends may call at the RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 305 N. Tenth Street, De Pere, from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue after 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael Catholic Church, 1782 Chapelle Rue, off of Lost Dauphin Road, West De Pere, until the Traditional Latin Requiem Mass at 11 a.m. with Fr.
