  Lambrecht, Harlan Shyrl On Friday, April 4, 2008, Harlan Lambrecht, age 57, our much loved husband, father, son brother, uncle and friend, left those who loved him too soon. Harlan was born on October 2, 1950, and grew up in Appleton, WI, where he graduated from Appleton West High School in 1968. He then joined the Air Force and served his country in Viet Nam. He met his wife Cathy (Fought) and they made their home in Goodyear, AZ, where they ran the family business. He is survived by his wife Cathy of 37 years, son, Mark (Kelli) Lambrecht, Buckeye, AZ; daughter, Melissa Lambrecht, Buckeye, AZ; grandsons: Brady and Drew, Buckeye, AZ; mother-in-law, Evelyn Fought, Buckeye, AZ; sisters-in-law: Sandy (Gary) Brooks, Goodyear, AZ; Jane (Steve) Tudor, Oklahoma; brother-in-law, Chuck Fought, Goodyear, AZ; his parents, Milon and Geraldine Lambrecht, Mountain, WI; brother, Marty Lambrecht and fiance Nancy VanHoof, Little Chute, WI; sisters: Jean (Dennis) Gerndt, Mountain, WI; Cathy (Brian) Godin, Mountain, WI; and numerous nieces and nephews. Harlan was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Jim Fought and niece, Catherine Tudor. There were countless others who had close interactions with Harlan through his business, Goodale True Value Hardware, the bowling alley, all golf courses in Arizona and all other places he frequented. Harlan battled cancer for the last seven months of his life; it was a struggle and he fought as hard as he could. Those who knew Harlan knew what a gracious and kind person he was. He was always willing to help people in any way and he always did it with such ease and grace. Being a great person always came easy to him. He worked hard in life and deserved all of the adventures he went on. Harlan was a businessman, but in his spare time, besides golfing and bowling, he loved to travel. Harlan and Cathy often took the easy four-hour trip to Rocky Point, Mexico, to enjoy the beach house. After many ventures and travels they soon discovered Lake Powell and this became their favorite vacation spot. Because Harlan loved it so much, he decided he wanted his ashes spread over Lake Powell. He will be greatly missed by the family he left behind on this Earth. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 8, at The First Southern Baptist Church in Avondale, AZ. Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of the Valley.
