  Joyce Sweatt, 83, Medina, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, at her residence with her son, Ross, and daughter, Deborah, also family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, at her side. Joyce was born on June 16, 1925, in Neenah, daughter of the late Frederick and Mabel (Weise) Schultz. On April 4, 1945, she married James R. Sweatt, III. He preceded her in death on Jan. 29, 2005. Joyce went to schools in Neenah. She was a switchboard operator at Ma Bell in Appleton, for many years. She then worked for Marathon, American Can and James River, retiring in 1982. She was a Den Mother Cub Scout Leader for Pack 83 in Dale/Medina. Joyce and her husband, James, were lifelong members of the Appleton Yacht Club. She enjoyed, gardening, knitting, fishing, shooting her 12 gauge and driving fast Fords. She especially enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joyce is survived by a son, Ross (Deborah) Sweatt, Medina; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Katina Sweatt and her children, Eden, Grace, Alyssa, Noah and Jaeden; Stephanie Krueger and her children, Jake, Jasmin and Isaiah; Jodie Eisch and her children, Isaac, Joey and Xavier; James Sweatt, V and his children, Mercedes and little James, VI; special grandsons, Brian and Clint. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her parents and husband, Joyce is preceded in death by a sister, Carol; and her Uncle Malcom and Aunt June Bunch. Funeral services for Joyce will be held on Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, at 6 p.m. at Borchardt & Moder Funeral Home in Hortonville. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 3 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the Dale Union Cemetery. A rose once grew for all to see sheltered beside the garden wall and as the days passed quickly by it spread its branches straight and tall one day a beam of light shone thru a crevice that had opened wide the rose bent gently forward its warmth and passed beyond the other side now you who deeply feel its loss be comforted the rose blooms there even greater now nurtured by Gods own loving care.
