  James Fradrich, 58, devoted son of the late George and Leone Fradrich of Menasha, WI, passed away peacefully Aug. 27, 2009, at UMDNJ in Newark, NJ due to complications from liver illness while awaiting a second transplant. Born Jan. 22, 1951, and raised in Menasha, WI, he graduated from Lawrence U in 1971 with a B.M. in piano performance and a minor in composition. While in school, he also played for Riverside Players, Attic Theatre and several local and state level beauty pageants. Jim was an award-winning concert pianist, composer, orchestrator and musical director. He resided in Union City, NJ. Jim began as a child prodigy and state-level award-winning young adult pianist who performed both as soloist and with several symphony orchestras in Wisconsin. In New York, he gained prominence off-Broadway as a composer, orchestrator and musical director and in regional theatre. He was archivist for the Rodgers and Hammerstein Library and on Broadway was a frequent assistant to the legendary orchestrator, William D. Brohn. From 1987-1990, he returned to Menasha to help care for his father. During this time, he musically directed shows at Classic Arts Theatre and local dinner theatre. There is a void in our hearts and he is very deeply missed by many people. He will be remembered for his gentle elegance and dapper style, his sharp wit and for his uncompromising respect for his craft and love of the arts. Jim is survived by his life partner of 27 years, Kevin McMullan of Union City, NJ; and several cousins in Wisconsin. A memorial luncheon will be held on Saturday, September 19, from 12-3 p.m. at Holiday Inn Riverwalk in Neenah. A memorial in celebration of his music (date and time to be announced) is being planned for later this year in New York. Donations may be made to The James Fradrich Memorial Scholarship (for classical pianists and composers) at Lawrence University. Jim, thanks for the music.
