  Gerhard, age 79, entered eternal rest March 9, 2005 at Parkside Care Center in Little Chute after a long struggle with Parkinson's Disease and dementia. He was born June 20, 1925 in Berlin, Germany to the late Ludwig and Helene (Riewe) Hintz. He immigrated to the U.S. with his parents as a baby. He grew up and spent most of his adult life in Neenah. He served his country in the Navy for two and a half years in the South Pacific during WWII. He was in the grocery business for many years and retired from American Can Company.On August 3, 1946 he married Eunice Hageman at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac, WI. In 1992, he and Eunice moved to Greenfield Manor, a retirement community in Little Chute. They have shared 58 and a half years together. He is survived by his wife, Eunice; daughter, Naomi (James B.) Jacobsen, Greenville; and sons: the Rev. Stephen C. (Kathryn) Hintz, Racine; and Nathan P. (Jackie) Hintz, Appleton. The proud grandpa of 12 grandchildren: Jessica Jacobsen, Prospect Heights, IL; Jamie (Corey) Zoromski, Julie Jacobsen, and Jonathan (fiancee Mackenzie Gradl) Jacobsen, Appleton; Christa (Darren) Holland, Janelle Potter, Gayle, Sharon, and Julie Hintz, Racine; Craig, Abby, and Alicia Hintz, Appleton. Great-grandchildren: Michael Archambeau, and Leanne and Jacob Potter. He is further survived by a sister: Alfrieda (Carl) Meiers and a brother: Erich (Bea) Hintz, Neenah; and numerous nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Sigismund, and sister-in-law: Viola Hintz. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2005 at Valley Funeral Home, with Pastor R. Szep officiating. Interment will be at Rienzi Cemetery in Fond du Lac. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. We wish to extend our sincere thanks to all of Gary's caregivers at Parkside Care Center. You were wonderful!
