  Of the death of Mr. Leander Murdock, who died at his home in Brothertown, Wednesday, March 24th, 1897. Mr. Murdock was born in the state of New York, 18 1827, came to Wisconsin with his parents in 1844 and located in Brothertown, where he resided until his death. He was a farmer by occupation and was always a genial, sociable, kind hearted neighbor, loved and respected by all who knew him. A short time prior to 1861, he was married to Mrs. Caroline Green, a widow. Two children, one son and one daughter was the result of their union, the daughter having died in infancy. Leander was a member of Co. K. 17th Reg. Wis Vol. and served during the war in Sherman's march to the sea. He was always a brave soldier and ready for duty, full of patriotism, and a devoted member of the B. J. Sweet Post No. 40, GAR under the auspices of which his funeral ceremonies were conducted. In his death the community has lost a true citizen; his neighborhood a social, jovial and obliging neighbor; his family a loving husband, father and brother. His last work is done, his last march is ended and he is now at rest in the great camp ground above. Leander Murdock Chilton Times April 10, 1897
