  CHARLES WIEDENHAUPT, who is ranked among the publicspirited citizens and s killed farmers of Buchanan township, is the owner of a farm of 143 acre s, situated in section 35. Born -in Germany, Mr. Wiedenhaupt is a son of H enry and Charlotte Wiedenhaupt, who came to America in 1863, settling fir st in Menasha, Wisconsin, for fifteen years, where Mr. Wiedenhaupt work ed in the hub and spoke factory. He then purchased sixty acres in secti on 26, Buchanan township, and lived there until 1906, when he retired, a nd is now living with his son William in Kaukalana, being eighty yea rs of age. His wife died in the spring of 1901, aged seventythree years, a nd was buried in the Appleton Cemetery. Charles Wiedenhaupt was born Octob er 7, 1863, the third child of a family of seven, and worked for his fath er until his marriage, September 13, 1894, to Miss Mary Zarnott, who was b orn September 29, 1873, the third of the five children born to Fred and Ch ristina Zarnott, natives of Germany. Mrs. Wiedenhaupt's parents were marri ed in the Fatherland and came to America about 1867, settling in Manitow oc county, where they have resided ever since, Mr. Zarnott being sevent y- three years of age and his wife seventy. Mr. and Mrs. Wiedenhaupt ha ve had seven children: Alfred, Charles, Odana, Benjamin, William, Viola a nd Rachel. Mr. Wiedenhaupt has 130 acres of his property under cultivatio n, all of it being fenced with barbed wire, and he carries on general farm ing, stock raising and dairying, marketing his dairy products, hay, grai n, potatoes, poultry, hogs and cattle. He milks ten Jersey cows, keeps Ber kshire hogs and breeds to Belgian horses. He erected his modern frame hou se in 1894 and built his basement barn, 40x80, in 1901, having bought t he property two years before his marriage and resided on it since that eve nt. He is a Republican in political matters and with his family attends t he Lutheran Church of Kaukauna.
