  Mrs. Kate Heesaker, 72, Gold Star mother of William Heesaker w ho was t he first De Pere casulaty of the World war, killed in action Ju ly 19, 1918 at Soissoins (France), and after whom Heesaker post, Merican L egion No. 230 was names, diad at 3 o'clock this morning at her mone on Elm -st., of a hear attack. She had been in comparatively good health until s hortly before her death.Mrs. Heesaker was born in Little Chute and had lived in De Pere for 38 yea rs. Her husband, Peter Heesaker, died in 1920, and she lived with her dau ghter, Miss Carrie Heesaker. Besides the daughter she is survived by s ix sons, Hebry and Thomas, De Pere, Frank and Albert, Sacramento, Cal., Ja cob of Million, Manitoba, Canada, and Anton whose address is unknown; al so by 19 grandchilren and on great grandspn; by four brothers, albert a nd John Verhagen, Little Chute, Anthony, De Pere, and Adrian, Chili, Wis ., and by one sister, Mrs. John Vandenberg, Little. Chute.Mrs. Heesaker was honorary president of the American legion auxiliary sin ce its organization. (From obituary: De Pere)
