South St. was purchased by their father in 1925; he died before the family was able to move into it. The 4 unmarried sisters then moved in and through the years did some remodelling and were antique collectors. The article states that their father, Charles DeYoung came to America in 1883. The house was owned at one time by one of the Presidents of Lawrence University; it then was purchased by Mark Catlin, Sr., and then purchased by Charles DeYoung.
