  Family History Researcher	By the way, my husband was able to find Edward Schoenfeld's civil war record at the National Archives last week. Initially, I didn't think it was my relative, as the enlistment papers stated that he was from Austria. However, in the packet was a letter from his wife, Sabina, asking for half of his pension as he had abandoned her. Unfortunately, it appears that this is only more fodder for my dear husband to tease me, however; Edward's reply states that she took their two youngest children and left HIM - and apparently the U.S. government felt his argument was compelling enough to dismiss her claim. Yet another family mystery!!
