  MRS. JOHN L. GEHRING, FINDS HERSELF IN BLOODY POOL Discovery Made While Washing Dishes Dead before Physicians Reaches House Varicose Veins Opens Near Ankle Mrs. Mary E. Gehring, wife of John L. Gehring, both pioneers of Outagamie county, died suddenly in her home on North street Saturday afternoon. Death came as the result of a ruptured varicose vein. While washing the dinner dishes Saturday she suddenly discovered that she was standing in a pool of blood, the vein on above her right ankle having broken. Her husband, calling at once for help, did all in his power to stop the flow of blood, but was unsuccessful and before medical aid arrived, she was dead. Mrs. Gehring, formerly, Miss Mary E. Woehler, was born in Jackson, Ohio in 1848 and came to Outagamie county in 1862. She lived for eleven years on a farm in Freedom and then with her husband came to Appleton. She is survived by her husband, five brothers, Edward of Kansas City; William of Tacoma, Wash., John of Omaha, Julius of Appleton and Theodore of Salt Lake City, and two sisters, Mrs. B. Kavanaugh of Tacoma, Wash., and Mrs. P. Harlow of this city. She also leave four children, Harry and Oliver of Grand Chute, John of this city, and Mrs. Joseph Stewart of Detroit, Mich., besides fifteen grand children. The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. L .R. Burrows officiating. Mr. and Mrs. J. Stewart and three children of Detroit arrived last night.
