Among specialists are the 100 hills of the Osburger of grave field from the Hunsrueck Eifel culture (6. to 3. Century v. Chr.) term. The steadiness of the settlement at Roman time can be assumed from flurnamen. In 7. - 8. Century had Osburg probably already a church. First documentary mention was in the year 940. The name

In the dreissigjaehrigen war (1618- 1648) the Osburg was probably destroyed. one built a new church for 1741 in Osburg. 1843 had Osburg of 850 inhabitants. 1869 1055 inhabitants. 1945 was destroyed nearly 80 per cent of the village by American air raids. In November 1958 a new church could be inaugurated, whereby the castle tower of the Osburg serves the church as bell tower and is landmark of the place.
