This page is in three sections. First, those who are currently serving Active duty. Second, those who gave their lives in the service of their country. This section INCLUDES foreign services, as many distant cousins in Germany, served their nation, also giving their lives in service to their country. And finally, a listing of those who served in the military at some time in their lives. I know this section will never be complete, so please let me know if you have names and photographs to add.
Also if you know of any Military Medals or ribbons that were awarded please let me know and an appropriate graphic can be added.

Following World War I , on July 4, 1919, the veterans of Ransom County, North Dakota were presented with the medal shown here
Four of the sons of James Summers and Ellen Glasheen, namely James C Summers, William W Summers, John A Summers and Leo Summers,
all served in the military during the war and were awarded this honor.
The parents of these veterans were born and married in the Hollandtown area, before relocating to Lisbon, North Dakota.

Sergeant Jeremy Yingling
US Army - 432 Civil Affairs Battalion
Jeremy is a descendant of Hubert Yingling (1820-1889) and Barbara Salchert (1834-1904) who came to the US in 1842. His paternal Great grandmother was "Mayme" Feller Yingling (1891-1990) the granddaughter of Johannes Feller, whose descendants are outlined on this website.
Jeremy recently returned from Iraq.
He was awarded a Purple Heart on January 27, 2004.
