St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Escanaba, Michigan, USA

Notes: Located in section 1, north on M-35, and east of Portage Creek, City of Escanaba, Delta County, Michigan. The land was first purchased by St. Joseph Church in 1889 and was for the exclusive use of St. Joseph Church members. In 1893, St. Anne's Church purchased land adjoining that of St. Joseph from Peter Semer for the use of its church members. In the early 1900's, St. Patrick's Church also had a designated cemetery area near St. Joseph and St. Anne's. In 1947 the cemetery was re-organized and at that time was named Holy Cross Cemetery. It is active and operated by the Catholic Diocese of Marquette. This index is created from the cemetery interment books one and two, date from 1944 to 1994 and tombstone readings (marked with an asterisk).
