    Obituary:
    Alfred Marzahl, age 98, was called to his Lord's waiting arms on Friday, May 18, 2012, at Cherry Meadows Hospice. Al was born in Kaukauna in September 3, 1913, son of the late August and Bertha (Zemke) Marzahl. He was confirmed in his Christian faith on April 22, 1928 at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Kaukauna by Rev. Th. Oehlert. On May 15, 1941, Al married the former Violet Retzlaff at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Kaukauna; Vi preceded him in death in 2008. Al had been employed by Thilmany Pulp and Paper for forty-four years, and retired in 1977 as a machine tender. He was a longtime and faithful member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church. There he served on the church board and cemetery board for many years.
    During World War II, Al served in the United States Navy in the Mobile Fleet Post Office. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon, Philippines Liberation Ribbon, Bronze Star, Victory Medal, and American Theatre Ribbon. In 2010, he was honored to have been the oldest veteran on the Old Glory Honor Flight, which he enjoyed with his son Tom. Al was currently a member of the Electric City Post #41 of the American Legion and the Past Commanders Club. He was also the Post Service Officer for over thirty-five years.
    Al is survived by four daughters: Joyce (Oliver ) Kruse of Menasha; Bette Marzahl of Combined Locks; Nancy (George) Traucht of Jackson; and Carol Moyer of Kaukauna; a son: Thomas (Lori) Marzahl of Menasha. There are eleven loving grandchildren: Elizabeth "Betsy" (Steven) McCrary of Sun Prairie; Timothy (Rozalyn) Kruse of Darboy; James (Bonnie) Kruse of Colorado Springs; Rachel (Kurt) Becker of Greenfield; Sarah Traucht of Milwaukee; Elisabeth (Rev. Aaron) Robinson of Milwaukee; Benjamin (Krista) Traucht of Jackson; Amanda (Rev. Jon) Bergemann of Woodbridge, Virginia; Sam Marzahl of Menasha; Melody Moyer of Milwaukee; and Dennis Moyer of Kaukauna. There are nineteen great-grandchildren: Aaron, Joshua, and Noah McCrary; Elijah, Ella, and Evan Kruse; Alissa and Trever Sottosanti; Nora Kruse; Grace and Emily Becker; Esther, Olivia, Arthur "Mack", Amaya, and Isaiah Robinson; Levi Traucht; and Ella and Micah Bergemann. Two sisters-in-law also survive: Doris Marzahl and Betty (LeRoy) Priebe. Al was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Violet, a grandson, six brothers, five sisters, and many nieces and nephews and other relatives.
    The Christian Funeral for Al will be held at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at TRINITY EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 804 Grignon Street in Kaukauna, with Rev. Karl Schultz and Rev. Timothy Wilkens officiating. Full military honors will follow the service. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Wednesday from 11:30 AM until the hour of the service.
    In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established to assist the Radio Broadcast Fund at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church.
