Mrs. Pennings Funeral Rites Held at F reedom - Dies in Green Bay at age 74 after Illness lasting 5 weeks.Funeral services for Mrs. Henrietta Pennings, mother of Mrs Tony Derus a nd Mrs. Leo Benotch, and sister of Walter Romenesko, Mrs. Dora Verhagen a nd Mrs. Matt Weber, were held Tuesday morning at St. Nicholas Catholic ch urch in Freedom with the Rev. Van Dyke in charge. The funeral procession l eft Fargo funeral home and proceeded to Freedom where burial was in Freed om cemetery. She was born Feb. 24, 1872 in Freedom and lived there mo st of her life until her death which came Saturday afternoon in Green B ay after a 5 week illness. She is survived by five daughters, Mrs Don McCa uly and Mrs. Herman Penterman of Appleton, Mrs Derus and Mrs Benotch of Ka ukauna, Mrs. Marvin Green of Green Bay; four sons Harry of Los Angleles, C A, John of Green Bay, Arthur and Leo of Appleton; one brother Walter Romen esko of Kaukauna,; three sisters Mrs Charles Unmuth of Appleton, Mrs. Verh agen and Mrs Weber of Kaukauna, 40 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildre n. Drowned in Kaukauna Canal - Pennings, Walter Mathias
Locktender drowns in Kaukauna Canal - Body of Walter Pennings is recovered an hour after he fell in water - Kaukauna - Walter Pennings, 27, locktender here was drowned at 10:30 Tuesday evening when he walked into the Fox River at the approach of the fourth lock. Mr. Pennings was on his way to open the second lock about a quarter mile west of the fourth lock and because of wet grass, he walked along the stones along the Canal bank. Mr. Pennings stopped at the lock tender's house at the fourth lock to turn on the lights which are located at each lock but there are none in between. He continued his walk along the canal bank and is believed to have fallen in the river about 30 feet from the house where the canal widens and the bank turns sharply to the right. Walter Ritten who helped Mr. Pennings at the fourth lock heard a call for help but when he reached the bank it was so extremely dark that he could only see where the body had gone down. Mr. Pennings cap was floating in the water. A number of men worked with pikes poles and grappling hooks and the body was recovered at about 11;15 by Louis Rassmussen, lockmaster and Louis Rogers. Mr. Pennings is survived by his widow and one sone, Eugene, his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Theodore Pennings of Freedom, and four brothers, Harry of San Pedro, Calif., Oliver, Leo and
Arthur of Freedom, four sisters, Mrs. Donald McCaulley of Appleton, Mrs. Anton Derys of Kaukauna, Magdelen and Loretta Pennings of Freedom.

Arthur G. Pennings, age 83, was born to eternal life August 30, 1995 at 11:22 a.m. following a cour ageous battle with cancer. He entered life in Freedom, Wisconsin on May 2 5th, 1912 the 12th of 14 children born to the late Theodore and Henriet ta (Romanesko) Pennings. He married the former Bernice Widmar on August 1 8th, 1934. They celebrated 56 years of marriage prior to her death on Nov ember 19th, 1988. Mr. Pennings was employed by Fairmont Foods Co. f or 26 years and then by Neenah Menasha Credit Bureau until his retireme nt in 1978, when he relocated to Glendale Arizona. Survivors include eig ht children: Shirley (Ed) Hartfiel, Appleton; Elaine (Ernie) Flunker, Frem ont; Anita (Wayne) Sawall, New London; Marlene Gruetzmacher, Menasha; Ka te (Jack) Williams, Osseo, Nancy Pennings, Neenah; Wayne (Barbara) Penning s, Appleton; Colleen (David) Baehnman, Appleton; 20 grandchildren, 15 grea t-grandchildren, a brother in law, Wallace (Vi) Widmar, Chilton. Arth ur is survived and numerous nieces and nephews, and other relatives and fr iends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, seven brother s, six sisters, a grandson, Greg Crane; and a great-grandson, Eric Delze r. The mass of resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday Septe mber 1st, 1995 at St. Bernard Catholic Church with Father Orville Jansen o fficiating. Charlotte H. Montanye (Derus), age 84, died at Manor Care in Appleton on Friday, June 23, 2006. She was born in Kaukauna on April 8, 1922, the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Pennings) Derus. On November 27, 1943, she married her husband of many years, Charles Montanye, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Kaukauna. He precedes her in death. Charlotte was a very good cook who took wonderful care of her family.

Clarine M. Miller, 84, Kaukauna, passed away after seven years of residence at Manor Care in Appleton, where she was the self-elected ambassador of good will, on Saturday, June 19, 2010. She was born in Kaukauna on April 21, 1926, the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Pennings) Derus. Clarine graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1944 and helped run a music store with her former music teacher, Lucille Austin, in Sheboygan, for five years. She then attended Milwaukee Beauty School in Green Bay, leading to many years of working with the Wonders sisters from Little Chute. Later she managed Appleton's Regis Hair Salon. Clarine was married to Marvin Miller for 46 years. He preceded her in death in 2002. Clarine's hobbies included gardening, music and reading. Much of her life was devoted to being a caregiver for her family and friends.
Clarine is survived by her children, Anne (Stephen) Keller and Lisa Miller; stepsons, Stephen (Michele Bahl) Miller and Ted Miller; grandchildren, Stephannie and Ben Keller, Jacob Retelle, Daniel (Lury) and David Miller; great-grandchildren: Karma Schulze, Renata and Ian Miller; former daughter-in-law, Kathryn Moon; sister, Betty Lueck; brother, David (Jean) A. Derus of Lodi, CA.; brother-in-law, Cal DeBruin; and many nieces and nephews. John J. "Jack" Pennings, 77, rural New Franken, died Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at St. Vincent Hospital after a short illness. Jack was born March 19, 1932, in Appleton, Wisconsin, to the late John C. and Esther M. (DeDecker) Pennings. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict (1952-1953) where he earned a purple heart and other meritorious commendations. While all wars are harrowing experiences, Jack was proud to have served his country.
Jack married the love of his life, Yvonne Agamaite, on July 7, 1954, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Dyckesville and enjoyed fifty-five marvelous years together. Together, Jack and Yvonne served as nursing home administrators for many years. Jack was also employed at Green Bay Transit for several years. In recent years, Jack enjoyed his retirement spending time with his family and especially his three grandchildren who were his pride and joy.
Jack is survived by his wife, Yvonne; three sons: Rev. Joyce married Calvin Abts at St. Louis Catholic Church in 1955. She worked at the Green Bay Public Schools as a Food Service Supervisor for 15 years and taught for 20 years at NWTC teaching cake decorating, and enjoyed making wedding cakes in her own business. Joyce dedicated her life to serving others. She enjoyed visiting with her children and grandchildren, playing cards, scrabble, and bingo.

Jerry Benotch, age 75, of Little Chute, died on Monday, June 13, 200 5, at Parkside Care Center. Jerry was born on April 27, 1930, in Kaukaun a, to the late Leo and Magdalene (Pennings) Benotch. He married Ruth R. La ppen in Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania, on November 23, 1951, she preceded h im in death on April 17, 2002.Jerry loved old cars, antique radios and collecting coins. Benotch, David J. "Notch" - David Benotch, 69, Kaukauna, passed away Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008, at the Appleton Health Care Center. David was born in Kaukauna, on May 19, 1939, son of the late Leo and Magdalene (Pennings) Benotch. Following high school, he served his country for a time as a member of the United States Marine Corps and after his return, married the former Kay Malsavage on June 25, 1965. Kay preceded him in death in December of 1980. David worked many years in the Kaukauna area as an independent insurance agent. He enjoyed sports of all kinds, especially baseball, softball and hunting, was an avid reader and could usually be found puttering in his woodshop in the garage. He also loved spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include two children, Desseria (Jordan) Kopac, Racine, and their children Jordan Kopac, III and Eden Kopac; and John (Diane) Benotch, Appleton; and two sisters, Barb Gossens, Sturgeon Bay; and Carrie (Peter) Sherrill, Forestville. David is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Kay in 1980; a sister, Carol; a brother, Jerome (Ruth) Benotch; and a brother-in-law, Bob Gossens.

Patricia L. Steward, age 70, Kaukauna, passed away Sunday, November 16, 2008, at home with her family by her side. Pat was born on April 24, 1938, to the late Leo and Lucille (Hannig) Pennings. She was united in marriage on April 23, 1959, to William C. Steward at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Appleton. Pat was employed by Peabody Manor as Director of Medical Records until her retirement at age 65. Patricia liked to knit, read and do crossword puzzles, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Christine Pennings Schultz, Milw aukee Wisconsin, formerly of Appleton, age 30, was killed by an intrud er in her home in Milwaukee at 2:30 a.m. Thursday. She was born Novemb er 15th, 1950 in Menominee Mich., and moved to Appleton at the a ge of 3. She graduated from the Xavier High School and attended the Unive rsity of Wisconsin La Crosse. Survivors include two sons; Sean and Shanno n, both at home, her parents; Earl and Alice Pennings, Appleton; a siste r, Mrs. Barbara (Bruce) Christ, of Gresham; two brothers and a sister in l aw, Peter and his wife Becky, of Denver Colorado; and Michael, of Appleto n; and a step grandmother, Mrs. Emil (Veronica) Hoffman, of Appleton. T he funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church, wi th Father James Putnam officiating. Internment will follow in the St. Jos eph cemetery.

Connie Harbeck, age 66, of Appleton, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 16, 2015 at her home. She was born on May 28, 1949 in Appleton, to the late Charles, Sr. and Noreen (Penterman) Kuba. Connie is survived by her children Joseph, Paul (Kellie), Dennis, and William Kaufman, Toni Jones; grandchildren Kyle, Corey, Savanah, Devon, Kyra, Willy, Stephanie, Amber, Jasmyne, Justice, Destiny, and Faith; great grandchildren Ava, Owen, and Zontaviyon; siblings Brian Kuba, Charles, Jr. (Cindy) Kuba, and Becky (Ken) Marschner. John 'Champ' Benotch, 50, Appleton, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 24, 2017, of natural causes. He was born October 9, 1966 to the late David & Kay (Malsavage) Benotch in Appleton and raised in Kaukauna. On July 30, 1994, he married Diane Chauvin in Milwaukee. John was passionate about baseball, playing up until college and was also an avid fan.
He is survived by his wife Diane, Appleton; sister: Desseria (Jordan) Kopac, Burlington, WI as well as many nieces, nephews and in-laws.
A private memorial service for John will be held at a later date.

Appleton - Melody Delzer, Appleton, age 62, died peacefully on Sunday, December 31, 2017 at her home after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. She was born on December 2, 1955 in Appleton, Wisconsin, the daughter of Orville Crane and Shirley Pennings. Melody worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at various locations throughout the Fox Valley. She also worked for Touch Point Insurance for many years. She retired from Theda Care Central Scheduling this spring. On July 28, 1973, Melody married Dan Delzer in Dale, Wisconsin; they were married for 44 years.
Melody is survived by her parents, Orville (Linda) Crane, Greenville, Shirley Hartfiel, Kimberly, her husband Dan, Appleton, a loving daughter, Kara Delzer, Combined Locks, and her 3 grandchildren: Austin, Kaelyn and Camdyn; she is further survived by her mother-in-law, Betty Delzer, New London and a brother-in-law, Ken Delzer; brother, Steven (Peggy) Crane, sister, Jean (Chuck) Bintzler, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Melody was preceded in death by her son, Erich and brother Greg.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 6, 2018, at Boettcher Family Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Drive, Kaukauna, WI. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery, Dale, WI. Friends may call at the Funeral Home from 11:00 am until the time of service.

Brian Miller, Appleton, age 49, died early on Wednesday morning, October 3, 2007. After years of battling various health conditions, it became necessary to enlist the wonderful staff at Brewster Village to monitor his care. Brian was born June 22, 1958, son of the late Merlin and Marlene Miller. He was a graduate of the Hortonville High School, and honorably served his country as a member of the United States Navy.
Brian is survived by a sister: Cindy (Pete) Beyer of Appleton; a brother: Greg A. Miller of Appleton; an uncle: Floyd (June) Miller of Mackville; and cousins: Mike, Bill, and Joe Miller, all of Appleton.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Since his discharge from the Navy in 1979, Brian has fought many battles in his life and was always thankful for the consistent friendship, comfort, and continuity of care he received through Agape of Appleton and Francis "Stack" Heesakker; their support has been invaluable to his family. The staff of Symphony Place at Brewster Village will always have the lasting thanks of his family for all of the care and services they provided for Brian while he lived there. Truly, through his compassionate and respectful nature, Brian touched the hearts of everyone who knew or worked with him over the years. He will be dearly missed.
Funeral services for Brian will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2007, at the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Tim Albrecht officiating. Interment will full military rites will take place at the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King, Wisconsin. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service.
To Dr. Vogel, each and every nurse and aide, support staff at Brewster Village, Vicki and her staff at Agape of Appleton, and Stack: You all made Brian feel important and he was able to go to his final resting place with pride and dignity. Thank you all so very much.
