  Old Pioneer Passed To Her Reward Mrs. Mathias Spranger died as her home in the village Monday, June 4th, 19 06 at the age of 74 years, after a lingering illness of about three mont hs with cancer from which she suffered undescribable agony at times, thou gh everything was done for her that loving care and medical skill could af ford to ease her suffering, when on Monday death came as a sweet relea se to her, as she looked forward to a happy future in the hereafter . B ut for the surviving members of the family it seems a dark cloud that shro uds over their home and took from them their dearly beloved mother and ev en casts a shadow of sorrow over her many friends who had learned to lo ve and respect her as only true friends can. Mrs. Sprangers was formerly M iss Berdiena Bacot , daughter of H. Bacot and was, up to her death, the on ly surviving member of her father's family. She was born in the city of Ar nhem, Guelderland, Holland, Sept. 3rd, 1831, and the 10th day of Sept. 184 6, Mrs. Sprangers accompanied her family to America where on May 30, 18 48 she became the wife of Mathias Sprangers a native of Lage Zwalwue, Nor th Brabandt, Holland. Unto Mr. And Mrs. Sprangers were born a fami ly of 13 children of which two daughters and three sons survuve, Huberdi na the wife of Henry Benefelt of Milwaukee; Henriette, the wife of James L amb, a farmer in Holland township; Mathias, who is also a farmer in that t own; Walter, who is a real estate agent an farmer near Ootsburg and Rev. J ohn Sprangers of Brillion. Mrs. Sprangers was one of the oldest pionee rs of Holland township having resided on a farm until 1883 when she mov ed to Ootsburg where she had purchased a beautiful little home in the vill age and spent the remainder of her life there. Mrs. Sprangers was an acti ve member of St. George Catholic church as was also her esteemed husband w ho preceded her in death many years ago. The funeral was held Thursday mor ning from the St. George Catholic church Rev. Father Paul E. Schiedel assi sted by several other priests officiated. The remains were laid at re st in the St. George Cemetery in Wilson township. Thus one of our oldest p ioneers who lived in Holland township for about 60 years has passed to t he better land and to many of her friends it is but another reminder th at our stay in this world is very short and soon our pilgramage must en d; then let us strive to live so that we can say as did our deceased frien d, " It is well with my soul". Additional Obit from Sheboygan News - June 1906 SPRANGERS -- Mrs. Bernardina Sprangers, a highly esteemed old reside nt of the town of Holland, died Monday evening, June 4, 1906, at her ho me in Ootsburg, after an illness of over two months, aged 74 years. Her hu sband died 22 years ago. Mrs. Sprangers, was born in the Netherlands in 18 31 and came with her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Peter Lyser, to America and th is county in 1846, where two years later she was united in marriage to M r. Sprangers. Five children survive as follows: Matthias, of the town of Holland; Rev. J ohn Sprangers, of Brillion; Walter H., of Lima; Mrs. H. Bielefeld, of Milw aukee and Mrs. James Lamb of the town of Holland. The funeral will take pl ace at 10:00 o'clock this Thursday morning at St. George's Catholic chur ch at Six Corners in the Town of Wilson.
