  Verna Catherine Spranger, age 82, Wittenberg, a former Eland resident, died Wednesday, May 2, 2001 at Community Health Care, Wausau Hospital. She was born September 19, 1918 in Hatley, the daughter of the late Anastazy "George" and Katherine (Barwick) Podjaski. Verna was united in marriage to Lester Spranger on October 23, 1937 in Wittenberg. He preceded her in death on October 18, 1975. Survivors include two brothers, Rupert (Dorothy) Podjaski, Schofield and Raymond (LaVerne) Podjaski, Menasha, also many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Funeral services were held May 5, 2001 at Holy Family-St. William Catholic Parish, Wittenberg. The Rev. Michael Carroll officiated. Interment was in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery, Wittenberg.
