These families arrived in Little Chute on June 7th, 1848. The next day the families that were on the Maria Magdelena arrived at Little Chute.

The "America" was termed a "Hambro Barque" which might refer to the company that made the bark or barque. The crew was under the leadership of Captain M. Haushele. A priest by the name of Father van der Poel was one of the ninety four passengers aboard. John Coenen, the son of Theodore Coenen and Johanna van den Berg wrote this account. He was fourteen years old at the time he journeyed with his family to America. About 1848, seeing that his children could have better opportunities in the United States, Theodore Coenen sold his little property in Boekel and sailed with his family from Rotterdam in a vessel bound for Philadelphia. They landed in that city after a voyage of 48 days and then their destination being in Brown County, Wisconsin, proceeded at once by rail to Albany, New York, thence via the Erie Canal to Buffalo, New York, and from there by the old steamer "Michigan" to Green Bay, Wisconsin where they landed in early June of 1848.
