  John is buried along with his wife Catherine Wolf at St. FrancisSeraph Cemetary Hollandtown, Wisconsin. His children Martin and Mary are also buried at this plot. The obituary for John reads as follows: John Lappen, aged 58, died at his home in the town of Woodville Monday, April 20, at 9:30 pm.Besides his wife he leaves to mourn his loss 11 children: Peter, Manitowoc; John, Coleman; Edward and Joseph, Kaukauna; Mrs. Walter Ebling, Green Bay; James, Gertrude, Anthony, Theresa, Michael, and Esther, at home; one sister, Mrs. John Arnoldsen, Freedom; three brothers, Peter, Green Bay; Martin, Minneapolis; Anton, Crane. He was a member of the St. Francis and St. Joseph's societies of St. Francis church, Hollandtown. The funeral will be held today, (Thursday) April 23, from St. Francis church, Hollandtown, where requiem high mass will be celebrated at 10 am, the Rev. H. Vande Castle officiating. Burial will be made in the parish cemetery. The pall bearers are six sons,Peter, John, Edward, Joseph, James and Anthony Lappen. The following card of thanks also appeared in the Kaukauna Times as follows: We desire to extend our sincere thanks to our neighbors and relatives for the many kind favors extended us during the illness and death of our husband and father.
