- Ruth S. Steffens, age 78, of Kaukauna, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2007, after a lengthy illness. Ruth was born February 29, 1928, in Appleton, daughter of the late Otto and Elsie (Deno) Doering. She married John Stygar and he preceded her in death. She then married Irvin F. Rader and he also preceded her in death. She married Walter Steffens on November 30, 1977, and he survives her. Ruth loved taking care of her grandchildren, enjoyed crocheting, and needlework spending many hours making baby blankets. She was a volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul, and would do anything to help anyone out.
In addition to her husband Wally, Ruth is survived by her children: Shirley (Jack) Van Den Heuvel, Kaukauna; Sharon (Robert Sr.) Glasheen, Kaukauna; Barbara (David) Hermsen, Combined Locks; Mark (Kim) Rader, Kaukauna. She is also survived by Wally's children: Karla (Jim) Schellinger, Appleton; Danny (Kristen) Steffens, Westfield, WI; Kay (Ted) Bouchette, Embarrass, WI; and Craig Steffens, Appleton; grandchildren: Kenneth and Tammy Vanden Heuvel, Robert Glasheen Jr., Eric (Jenny) Derks, Krystal and Chantel Rader; Michelle (Nick) Bader, Aaron Schellinger, Tabetha and Dustie Steffens; Adam Steffens, Natacha Bouchette, and Jayden Steffens; and five great-grandchildren. She is further survived by a sister-in-law, Lorraine Doering; Wally's brothers and sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four brothers: Wilbert, Harold (Marie), Marvin and Ralph (Margaret) Doering; and two sisters: Helen (Joe) Stoeger and Marie (Ed) Bellin.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 19, 2007, at Bethany Lutheran Church, 124 W. 10th Street, Kaukauna, with Pastor Walter Steinbach officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, from 4-8 p.m., at the funeral home, and also on Monday, at the church, from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be in Union Cemetery. A memorial is being established.
