- See Image Josephine "Jo" Micke nee Van AstenAge 77, joined the Lord on Saturday evening surrounded by her family at h er home. She was born April 17, 1923, in Freedom, daughter of the late Hen ry and Caroline (Daul) Van Asten. On August 29, 1946, she was united in ma rriage to Leo Micke at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom. Jo was a dev oted wife and mother who loved to garden and cook for her family. Jo lov ed to get together with friends and family and play cards. She was a lifel ong member of St. Nicholas Church, Freedom, and had a deep devotion to t he Rosary. Jo was a very loving and positive person with a deep love for h er Catholic faith. Jo greatly enjoyed to take bus trips with Leo.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Leo; her children, Joanie Mic ke of Houston, Texas; Gene (Kathy) Micke of De Pere; Gary (Carol) Mic ke of Freedom; Lynn (Duane) Ihde of Freedom; Donald (Barbara) Micke of Kau kauna; 17 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; her brothers and their f amilies, Martin (Josephine) Van Asten, William (Marion) Van Asten; her sis ters and their families, Mary VanderHeiden, Alma (Orville) Vanevenhoven, R osie (Joe) VanderHeiden. Jo is further survived by Leo's family, Rosella V anderHeiden, Gladys Micke, Raymond (Rose) Micke, Julie Micke and her speci al friend, Ralph Mader.
She was preceded in death by her infant brothers, Raymond and Clarence, a nd her sister and two brothers-in-law, Blanche (Ed) Van Handel and Leo Van derHeiden. Jo was also further preceded in death by members of Leo's famil y, Helen Micke, Anna Micke, Veronica (Ray) Jacobs, Clayton VanderHeiden, T ony (Ceil) Micke, Norbert Micke, Francis Micke, Gilbert Micke and Edward M icke.
Friends may call from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at BOETTCHER FAMILY F UNERAL HOME, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna, with Parish prayers at 7 p. m. Visitation will continue after 10 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Nicholas Cat holic Church, Freedom, until the Mass of Christian burial at 12 p.m. wi th Fr. Dennis Ryan officiating burial in the parish cemetery.
The family would like to thank Hospice, especially Kelly Bekkers for her w onderful care. Leo would also like to thank Dr. Jack Meyer and Dr. Antho ny Phillips. A memorial fund will be established.
Jo left a legacy of love, faith and compassion for her family to carry o n. Jo was a wonderful person and will be deeply missed by all she has touc hed.
