- Karen M. Schulz, Appleton, 57, passed away on Friday morning, May 25, 2007, after a short stay at St. Elizabeth Hospital, following a heart attack. She was born on Aug. 2, 1949, in Appleton to Robert and Dorothy (Hentschel) Defferding. Karen was a member of the Appleton Senior High School graduating class of 1967. Most recently, she was employed by E.C.C.- International, Marsh, and I.P.S. Karen was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, antiquing, sewing, knitting, crocheting, photography, and spending time with children, especially her own grandchildren.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Tracy (Tony) Griggs, Duluth, Minn.; Trevor (Clare Wire) Schulz, Appleton; grandsons, Logan and Owen Griggs; parents, Robert and Dorothy Defferding, Appleton; siblings, Dennis Defferding, Greenville; Deb (Scott) Douglas, Rindge, N.H.; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her special friend, Fred Wolfgram.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at Zion Lutheran Church, 912 N. Oneida Street, Appleton, with the Rev. Larry Matthews officiating. Friends may call at the church from 4 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Karen's name.
