- Robert A. "Bob" Romenesko, 87, formerly of Freedom, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at his home with his loving wife at his side. He was born on June 23, 1928, son of the late Walter and Mabel (Newhouse) Romenesko. On June 21, 1949, Bob married his high school sweetheart, Eunice Smith, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Oneida, and together they shared over 66 wonderful years of marriage.
Bob farmed on his family homestead in Freedom for many years. He was a past member and president of the Freedom School Board. On Tuesday afternoons, Bob wouldn't miss his card club with his brothers and friends. He enjoyed traveling around the world with Eunice and spending time around the campfire up north. Bob treasured time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family was extremely important to him and he set a great example to them all.
Bob will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Eunice; his children: Steve (Kathy) Romenesko, Barb Reuter, Jean (Butch) Pendleton, Tom (Christine) Romenesko, Beth (Bryan) Stewart, and Julie (Bill Peterson) Miller; grandchildren: Leann (Craig) Vosters, Jeneen (Justin) Mackey, Andrea Romenesko, Seth (Carolyn) Reuter, Cara (Tony) Nackers, Brandon (girlfriend Halla Nelson) Reuter, Sara (Duane) Felton, Jess (Jaceson) Hauser, Craig (girlfriend Holly Clausen) Meulemans, Kristen Meulemans, Eric, Melissa, Jamie, Shannon and Shaela Romenesko, Zach (girlfriend Abby Przybylski), Sierra, Abby and Nate Stewart, Jenessa and Jake Miller, and Lauryn Peterson; great grandchildren: Maya, Aliana, Samantha, Lyla, Tyler, Mason, Madi, Alayna, Wesley, Jace, Brady, Ryleigh, Gabriella, Vincent, Easton, Giana, McKenna, Caden and Carson; brothers: Ken, Merle (Rosemary), Jerry (Pat), Clyde (Margaret) and Vernon (Barb) Romenesko; sisters-in-law: Mary Kavanaugh and Donna Smith; brother-in-law, Simon Vosters; and many other family members and special friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Luke Romenesko; siblings: Ray (Laverne) Romenesko, Orv (Izzy) Romenesko and Arlene Vosters; sisters-in-law: Rose and Cleo Romenesko; and many members of Eunice's family.
Funeral services for Bob will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, March 21, 2016, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, W2037 County Road S, Freedom, with Fr. Walter Stumpf officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 20, 2016, at the Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home FREEDOM Location, N3972 Columbia Ave., Freedom, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and again on Monday at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
