- Haen, George E. George E. Haen, 96, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away Thursday (August 26, 200 4) at Door County Memorial Hospital. He was born March 8, 1908, in Sturgeon Bay, one of 17 children to Peter a nd Catherine (Trudell) Haen. He graduated from Sturgeon Bay High Scho ol in 1926. He owned and operated the Red Room Bar in Sturgeon Bay. Geor ge spent the rest of his career working at local Shipyards, retiring fr om Peterson Builders Inc. On September 14, 1940, he married Verneille Knip shield in Janesville, Wisc. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbu s. George enjoyed woodworking, gardening, reading, doing crossword puzzle s, and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Verneille of Sturgeon Bay; three daughters, J an Fagan of Janesville, Judy (Allen) Delwiche of Sturgeon Bay, Sue (the la te Duane) Munson of Eau Claire; son, Bill (Pat) Haen of Lodi; eight grandc hildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Hub (Luella) Haen of Sturgeon Ba y; three sisters, Betty Ann Haen of Sturgeon Bay, Elinore White of Califor nia, Margaret Beadle of Florida; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Haen; six brot hers, Leonard, Bernard, Ralph, Lester, Milton, Raymond; four sisters, Flor ence Avery, Agnes O'Hern, Mary Holstein, and Kathryn May. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday (August 30, 200 4) at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Dominic Peluse scj officiatin g. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum. Friends may call at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay from 4:00 to 8: 00 p.m. on Sunday and at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the ti me of services at 10:30 a.m. The K.C. Rosary will be said at 3:45 p.m. Sun day afternoon followed be a parish wake service at 7:30 p.m. Sunday eveni ng at Huehns Funeral Home. "He was a very kind, compassionate, Christian man, and will be greatly mis sed by family, friends, and all who knew him."
