- Barbara A. (Krueger) Eick, 58, of Marinette, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on April 1, 2012, Palm Sunday, after a valiant 3-year fight with cancer. She was born July 27, 1953 in Appleton, Wisconsin to Vera (Bellin) and the late Wilmer Krueger.
She graduated from Appleton West High School in 1971, married the love of her life, Gary Eick, on August 24, 1971, and moved to Marinette. Her most cherished profession was being a wife, mother and grandmother, as her family was the light of her life and she was theirs. As her children grew she found work outside the home, first at Piggly-Wiggly and then at Northland Village in Marinette as activity director. It was a position that fit Barb's giving and caring personality. She loved her extended family there and they loved her.
In addition to her husband, Gary, and mother, Vera, she is survived by her children, Corey (Amanda Veriha) Eick and Lisa (Ron) Lesperance; grandchildren, Brandon Eick, Shane Marquardt, Lance and Ashley Hanneman and Kyle Lesperance; four brothers, Bob (Mary) Krueger, Jim (Trudy) Krueger, Kel (Dawn) Krueger and John (Brenda) Krueger; a sister, Kathy (Dan) Dorchester; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert (Beth) Eick; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents; her father, Wilmer Krueger; a brother, Keith Krueger; a sister-in-law, Janet Krueger; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carlton and Loretta Eick; an infant grandson, Bryce Robert Eick; and an infant nephew, Brandon Krueger.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 3 until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at Zion Lutheran Church, 221 S. Ellis Ave., Peshtigo, WI 54157. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday in the church with Pastor Luke Myslik officiating.
The family would like to extend a special and heartfelt thank you to Unity Hospice and their wonderful staff for their compassionate care, especially Hailey, whom Barb had a special fondness for.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established by the family.
