- Irene M. Langenberg, Combined Locks, 90, passed away on Friday, Sept. 17, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was born on Oct. 16, 1919, to the late Henry and Mary (Asenbrenner) Mader in Gresham, Wis., and had been a resident of the Fox River Valley for many years. She married Joseph B. Langenberg on June 11, 1940, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 16, 1985. Irene and Joe lived in Neenah, at Berry Lake, Appleton, and Combined Locks during their married life. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Combined Locks. She enjoyed her years with her family and her time spent volunteering at church and St. Elizabeth Hospital.
Survivors include her children, Jan (Tom) Abendroth, Tom (Mary) Langenberg, Nancy (Peter) Abendroth, Barbara (Tim) Huth, and Mary Kay (Tim) Taves; ten grandchildren, Kelly Richard, Tom Langenberg Jr., Rick Abendroth, Lisa Abendroth, Katie Murray, Eric Huth, Jeff Huth, Amy Huth, Libby Taves, and Tyler Taves; 15 great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Nicholas Richard, Alexis Kohlbeck, Colin Abendroth, Jordan, Jacob, and Benjamin Huth, Carter, Sadie, Jenna, Blake, and Mason Huth, and Abbey, Lee, and Sidney Murray. She is also survived by her sister, Marge Foss; and sisters-in-law, Millie Mader, Joanne Eggers, and Marie Vandenberg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joseph; six brothers, Sylvester, Lawrence, Charles, Louis, Henry, and Roland Mader; sister, Frances Barr; four brothers-in-law, John Langenberg, Richard Eggers, Robert Vandenberg, and Roy Foss.
The Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 24, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 410 E. Wallace St., Combined Locks, with Father Robert Vandenberg officiating. The family will receive visitors Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Appleton. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
Irene's family would like to extend a special thanks to Affinity Health, especially Dr. Brian Scott and staff, her many wonderful neighbors, especially Kirk and Sue Fromhart, for all the care and friendship given to Mom through the years. Also, deep appreciation to all the "angels" on 4 South at St. Elizabeth Hospital for their wonderful care this past week.
