- Paul P. Lamers, Kaukauna, age 85, passed away on Monday October 13, 2008, at Cherry Meadows Hospice, Appleton, WI, after a courageous two-year battle with heart disease. Paul was born on October 31, 1922, to the late Richard and Anna (Van Lanen) Lamers. On July 12, 1945, he was united in marriage to Helen Haen at St. Mary's in Kaukauna, WI. He was an active member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kaukauna, sang in the Queen of Peace Choir and was a Communion Distributor. Paul was a concrete contractor for several years. After that, he owned and operated a dairy farm in the Kaukauna area with the help of his wife and family, and sold the farm to his son Mark in 1984. Up until two years ago he still helped Mark with field work. He also loved gardening, playing cards, casino trips, woodworking and spending time with friends and family.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Helen. He is also survived by seven children: Robert (Joyce) Lamers, Greenleaf, Lois (Gene) Ver Voort, Little Chute, Kathy (Steve) Romenesko, Freedom, Gary, Palm Springs, CA, Cindy (Gary) Anderson, Kaukauna, Mark (Lynn) Lamers, Kaukauna, and Paul Jr. (Patty) Lamers, Kaukauna. There are 18 grandchildren: Amy (Scott) Alexander, Robert (Melinda) Lamers, Craig (Tammy) Lamers, Brian (Toni) Ver Voort, Kelly (Cory) Averill, Jeff (Lisa) Ver Voort, Leann (Craig) Vosters, Jeneen, Andrea and Luke Romenesko, Jackie (Nick) Bladow, Becky (fiancee Adam Stapel) Anderson, Eric (Tiffany) Lamers, Jodi (Dan) Hacker, Leah (fiancee Eric Wellhouse) Lamers, Jenny, Andy and Emily Lamers; 17 great-grandchildren with one more expected in April. Paul is also survived by his brothers: Gordon, Lyle (Helen), Gene, Marcel (Marilyn) Lamers, sisters: Mary (Gerald) Nackers, Rose (Francis) Schmidt, Frances (Bob) Haen, Emily (Gordon) VanderWyst; his wife's family: Martha (Cyril) Klister, Irene Kempen, Lucina (Norbert) Schmidt, and Pat (Fred) Haen-Schuette.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Anna Lamers, sisters: Ruby (Turiff) Van Handel and Jane Vosters, in-laws: Mary Lamers, Ellen Lamers, Delia Lamers, Ves Vosters, Bob Turiff, Barney Van Handel; his wife's family: Elizabeth and John Haen, Rita (Richard) Hartzheim, Victor (Ethel) Haen, Leo (Gladys) Haen, Merlin Kempen and Jack Haen.
Paul's Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday October 17, 2008 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street, Kaukauna, with Fr. Thomas Pomeroy and Fr. Jack Mullarkey concelebrating. Friends will be received on Thursday at BOETTCHER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 2401 Fieldcrest Drive, Kaukauna, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Parish Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. concluding the evening. Friends may call again on Friday directly at Church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.
