- James Evers, 69, of Freedom (formally Little Chute) passed away November 4, 2014, at St. Elizabeth Hospital surrounded by family. He was born on December 8, 1944, the son of the late John and Martina (Wildenberg) Evers. He married his high school sweetheart, Sharyl (Verstegen) Evers on November 7, 1964. They were blessed with five children, and six grandchildren.
Jim was filled with pride while attending his grandchildren's events and school functions. He adored each and every one of their talents. He took particular interest in teaching them how to drive and maintain 4 wheelers and lawn mowers. Jim was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also enjoyed going to auctions, flea markets and rummage sales. His shed was his home away from home where he delighted in woodworking, particularly building benches and wheelbarrows. His garden, trees, and flowers were his enjoyment. Jim owned his own drywall business and retired from the profession after 41 years.
Jim is survived by his wife, Sharyl; sons: Jeffrey (Maureen) Evers, Steve (Sue) Evers; and a daughter, Sharla (Pete) Adrian; grandchildren: Danielle Evers, Derek Evers, Matthew Evers, Courtney Evers, Fisher Adrian and Cale Adrian; sisters: Katie De Witt and Theresa Evers; sisters-in-law: Jan (Drace) Evers, Shawn (Verstegen) Olm, Rochelle (Verstegen) Stoffel, Sharlene (Babe Verstegen) Peeters, and Ruth (Verstegen) Olson.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; son, Joseph Evers; daughter, Sheila Evers; brothers: Frank, Marvin, and Cletus Evers; sisters: Eileen Parmenter, Marge Fuszard, JoAnn Schmaltz; sisters-in-law: Rosemary (Leithen) Evers, Bernice (Tiesling) Evers, and Sharon Verstegen; brother s-in-laws: Keith Verstegen, Robert Parmenter, and Peter De Witt; father-in-law, Leo (Baker) Verstegen and mother-in-law, Genrose (Verstegen) Staley.
The funeral mass for Jim will be held at 2:00 pm. on Friday, November 7, 2014, at St John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 S. Pine Street, Little Chute, with Msgr. James Vanden Hogen officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. Family and friends are welcome to join in visiting at church on Friday from 12:00 Noon until the time of mass.
