- Donna Van Asten, 73, Kaukauna, passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2010, with her family by her side. She was born February 17, 1937, in Appleton, daughter of Erve and Minnie (Verkuilen) Knabenbeaur. Donna was employed as a nurse's aid at Parkside Care Center, Little Chute, until her retirement in 2003. She enjoyed camping, crocheting, reading, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren. Donna also loved ice cream! She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who loved giving of herself, including making patazie for her family to enjoy. Donna was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute.
Donna is survived by her children: Richard (Juliana) Van Asten, Menasha; Cindy (Scot) Jansen, Kaukauna; Connie Van Asten, Little Chute; Mark (Laurie) Van Asten, Kimberly; Christy (Dan) Verbeten, Wrightstown; Mary Kay (Joe) Dollevoet, Little Chute; Bill (Lori) Van Asten, Kimberly; Dennis Van Asten, Arizona; Brian (fiance Colleen) Van Asten, Appleton; and Brad (Jill) Van Asten, Kaukauna; 24 grandchildren: Christie (Kevin), Ryan (Milly), Eric, Randy (Kristy), Katie (Brandon), Adam (Amy), Andy, Ashley (Andy), Nicole, Melissa, Tom, Corey, Lindsey, Michael, Danielle, Joey, Kevan, Kaitlyn, Isabella, Zach, Kyle, Corinne, Noah, and Brandon; 15 great grandchildren; a brother and 3 sisters: Jack (Karen) Knabenbeaur, Pat Wolfgram, Gerry Onkles and Sharon Maass; a brother-in-law, Don Day; further survived by special friends: Art H. (Jan) Van Asten, Lois Pahl and Toots.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Paul; a granddaughter, Amy Van Asten; a brother, Kenny; a sister, Rosie Day; brothers-in-law, Jim Wolfgram and Bud Onkles; a nephew, Joe Wolfgram.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, August 30, 2010, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 S. Pine Street, Little Chute, with Msgr. James Vanden Hogen officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. Visitation will be held at the church from 1 p.m. Monday until the time of the mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
Donna's family would like to thank all of the staff at the St. Paul Villa, St. Paul Home, and Hospice, as well as their kitchen staff for taking such good care of mom and her family. Thank you.
