Leroy Meinhardt crossed over to Heaven on March 27, 2017 at The Bridges in Appleton. Leroy was born January 20, 1923 to the late Edwin & Mabel (Wing) Meinhardt in Hortonia, WI. He was married to Florence Spierings on May 22, 1948; together they enjoyed 64 years of marriage. Florence preceded Leroy in death in 2012. His life's journey began with working beside his dad in their cheese factories. WWII called him to the Philippines. When he came back to the states he started his career as a truck driver at Service Bakery in Appleton. His favorite job was his last, driving semi for Foremost Dairies; 20(+) years without an accident. Leroy enjoyed putting up holiday yard lights and decorations, parties of any kind, telling jokes, staying in touch with family and friends & visiting his favorite restaurants for pie and coffee. Most of all he liked spending time with family and driving for miles. Leroy is survived by his 3 children; Nancy (Daryl) Recker, Judy (Allen) Sigmund and David Meinhardt; 3 grandchildren; and 2 sisters; Marilyn Nowak and Carol (Jim) Madge. A time of family visitation will be held on Monday April 3, 5:00 PM at Valley Funeral Home in Appleton followed by a celebration of Leroy's life at 7:00 PM. We wish to thank all of the caregivers at Atrium & The Bridges for all the kindness & care given to Leroy and his family.
