  Mrs. Eleanor Kerns passed away at her home in this city last Thursday evening after an illness of two weeks with gastric fever. The deceased was born in Tipperary County, Ireland, May 20, 1834. At the age of seventeen she came to America and in 1859 was united in marriage to Peter Carr at Rubicon, Wisconsin. Of five children born to this union John M. Carr of Melrose township is the only one now surviving. Another son, Edward Carr, died in this city between two and three years ago. Later the deceased was married to John M. Kerns, of Sellersville, Pennsylvania and to this union was born one daughter, Margaret Anna Kerns, of this city. During the ten years of her residence in Milbank Mrs. Kerns made many warm friends who deeply sympathize with her bereaved relatives. The funeral was held from the Catholic church at 10 o'clock Saturday forenoon and interment made in the Catholic cemetery.
