  His parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Broehm, Pennsylvanian Christians, were among the pioneer settlers of this community during the Civil war, making their home on the farm about two miles northwest of the present Forest Junction, occupied at present by Eldred Knoespel. In connection with his operation of the farm, Mr. Broehm engaged in well drilling and threshing and was associated with the origin of the Calumet Telephone company on whose board of directors he was still a member. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Evangelical church conducted by the Rev. Philip Schneider and burial was in a family lot in the village cemetery at Brillion. Survivors include his wife, a sister, Mrs. Emma Seybold, Forest Junction and three brothers, Theodore, Hilbert, August, Brillion and John Kaukauna. Chilton Times – October 5, 1939
