- Milton Vernon Ruppel, age 93, was called home by his Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Willow Lane Assisted Living.
Milton was born on January 16, 1924 in the Town of Wyoming, Big Falls, Wisconsin the son of the late Louis and Ottelia (Marks) Ruppel. Milton served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the American Legion Post 38. He was formerly employed with the Telephone Company for over 37 years and retired in 1985 as a facility specialist. Milton was united in marriage to the former Ruth Diestler on August 26, 1950. He was a member of Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church. Milton enjoyed traveling with his wife virtually to every corner of this country and beyond, including Mexico and Europe. In his past time, he also enjoyed golfing, hunting, playing cards, Friday night fish fries, water skiing into his 80s but most important was spending time with his family and friends on Wheeler Lake and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Milton is survived by his daughter, Nancy (Robert) Korth; three grandchildren, Robert (Nicole) Korth, Pulaski; Michelle (Nate) Klapoetke, Wild Rose; Timothy (Brittany) Korth, Appleton; seven great-grandchildren, Landen, Easton, Brayden, Beau, Madelyn, Myla and Hailey; a brother, Donald Ruppel; three sisters, Carol Grossman, Appleton; Evelyn (Vernon) Rieckman, Neenah; and Karen (Eugene) Fisher, Marion; a sister-in-law, Irene Ruppel, Dale; a brother-in-law, Donald (Carol) Diestler, Hortonville.
Milton was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ruth; his son, Tom Ruppel; his two sisters, Lillian Theil and Donna Ruppel; five brothers, Ervin, Harry, Arlyn, Leroy, and Johnny Ruppel; two sisters-in-law, Nellie Diestler, and Lucille Rupple and brothers-in-law, Francis and Wayne Diestler and Robert Grossman.
The Christian funeral service will be held 11 a.m on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, 530 West Parkway Blvd, Appleton, with Rev. Mark P. Henke officiating. Interment will be held at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton with full military honors to be held. Milton's family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Tuesday from 9-10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established in Milton's name.
