- Robert E. St. Marie, 83, Appleton, formerly of New London, passed away on his birthday, at his residence, on Saturday, July 12, 2008. He was born on July 12, 1925, in Forest Junction, son of the late Romeo and Lorraine (Broehm) St. Marie. On June 25, 1949, he was united in marriage to Marion Williams at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Menasha. He worked at Curwood in New London from 1963 until his retirement in 1990. Bob was an avid wood carver and belonged to the Wisconsin Chippers Woodcarving Assn. He also loved gardening and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marion; two daughters, Donna (Bruce) Dopp, Wild Rose; Julie (Jeff) Snell, De Pere; five sons, Joe (Cheryl) St. Marie, Madison; John (Mary) St. Marie, Winneconne; Jim (Barb) St. Marie, New London; Bill St. Marie, Appleton; Larry (Rhonda) St. Marie, Appleton; one brother, Kenneth St. Marie, Appleton; one sister, Carole St. Marie, Appleton;. 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ellen Riley; a granddaughter, Angela Riley; a brother, Larry; and a sister, Dorothy.
The Funeral Mass for Robert will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in New London with the Rev. David Lewis officiating. Interment will be in the Most Precious Blood Parish Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m., and on Wednesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for the Alzheimer's Association.
