- Eugene "Turk" Haessly, age 86, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah. He was born to the late Leo and Grace (Willequette) Haessly on April 27, 1930 in Green Bay. On January 16, 1954 Eugene married Verona "Cookie" Lancour at St. Mary Catholic Church in Kaukauna. The couple lived in the area for all of their married lives. Eugene was a United States Army veteran where he served in Germany during the Korean Conflict. Eugene sold insurance along with numerous other jobs including bus driving, which he loved. He was an avid Packer and Cub fan, loved polka music, and cracking hickory nuts. He was a past member of Kaukauna Kiwanis and St. Aloysius Catholic Church, where he was in the choir for years.
Eugene is survived by his wife of 62 years, Verona of Kaukauna; their children: Susan (John) Jansen of Kaukauna, Steven (Marg) Haessly of Hollandtown, Scott (Lynette) Haessly of De Pere, Richard (Karen) Haessly of Green Bay, Sandra (Jim) Roeser of Green Bay, Jon (special friend Melissa) Kirk, and David (Maureen) Haessly of Kaukauna; 15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He is further survived by his wife's family: Osa (Ed) Herreid of Kenosha, Maryann Nordstrom of Arizona, Leona Lancour of Kaukauna, Vince Ferrari of Arizona, Thomas (Mary Ann) Lancour of Seymour; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Eugene is preceded in death by a sister Rosemary (John) Brenzel; daughter-in-law: Elizabeth Haessly; great grandson Tyler Mayer; brothers-in-law: Gene (Val), Dick, Ron (Kendal) Lancour, and John Nordstrom; sisters-in-law: Rita (Emil) Gosse, Della (Bill) Anholzer, and Alice Ferrari; and a nephew Jeff Brenzel.
A funeral service for Eugene will be held at 12:00 NOON on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH AT ST. FRANCIS CHURCH, 433 County Rd CE, Kaukauna, WI, with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Friends may call directly at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
