- Florence (Steffens) Bodde, of Kaukauna, age 80, passed away April 24, 2008, after a short battle with an unexpected illness. She was born June 30, 1927. She grew up in Kaukauna and married George Bodde on August 17, 1948. Florence is remembered for her love of faith, family, friends and music. She was a wonderful woman who dedicated her life to helping others in need. Early in her life, Florence was a kindergarten teacher's aide.
She was also an active member of the Christian Mother's Altar Society, the Outagamie County Homemakers, the head of "Hot Dog Day" at Holy Cross School, a member of the Extension Chords singing group, the Town of Kaukauna Planning Commission, and the Town of Kaukauna Historical Society. She was an avid volunteer at St. Paul's Home in Kaukauna. Her greatest love was spending quality time with her family and sharing her faith and love of music with others.
She is survived by her son, Wayne (Judy) Bodde, Kaukauna; her daughters: Joan (Chuck) Huss, Kaukauna; Laura (John) Evers, Kaukauna; and Rose (Russ) Vandeyacht, Sunsites, AZ; eight grandchildren: Bill (Melody) Bodde, Elizabeth (Bill) Inman, Abby (Mark) Sprangers, Martha (Tim) Lampe, Jackie (Marty) DeCoster, Charlene (Mike) Zuleger, Jenny Huss (special friend Andy Meyer), and Nick Evers; four great-grandchildren: Katelyn Bodde, Eli and Emma Inman, and Lillian Zuleger. She is further survived by her brothers: George (Gina) Steffens, Fond du Lac; and Melvin (Beverly) Steffens, Madison; her sisters-in-law: Jean Steffens, Nancy Shimek, Micheline Steffens; and many loved nieces and nephews.
Florence was preceded in death by her husband, George; her son, William "Little Bill"; her mother and father, Minnie and Joseph Steffens; her brothers: Vincent, William, Peter, Nicholas, Francis and Richard; her sisters: Sister Jane Francis and Sister Leonore Steffens, Lorraine Corby and Genevieve Frederickson.
Mass of Christian Burial for Florence will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 28, 2008, at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street, Kaukauna. Friends will be received on Sunday at BOETTCHER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, Kaukauna, from 3 to 7 p.m. with a Parish Prayer Service concluding the evening, and again on Monday directly at church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established. 920-766-2099
