- Gladys A. McHugh, Age 78 was welcomed into Heaven with her family by her side on June 3, 2011. She was born on July 27, 1932, to the late John and Harriet (Gerrits) Huiting. On September 8, 1954, she was united in marriage to Donald McHugh, and he preceded her in death on November 12, 2005. Gladys, along with her husband, lived and farmed in the Hortonville area until their retirement. They enjoyed traveling, playing cards and spending time with their family. Gladys was an active member of SS Peter and Paul Parish where she served on various committees. Her family will long remember her for her sense of humor and her wonderful cooking, baking and especially her "same old chocolate cake."
Gladys is survived by three daughters, Patricia Teachout, New London; Jean (Robert) Thyssen, Larsen; Ann (Jeff) Kearn, Greenville; six sons, Michael, James (Sherie), Daniel, Thomas (Valerie), Kevin (Brenda), all of Hortonville, Mark (Dolly) New London; 20 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her Aunt Marie Huiting, Kaukauna; and Uncle Ted and Aunt Jule Huiting, Little Chute; her sister, Doris (Mel) Jochman, Darboy; brother, Donald (Mary) Huiting, Appleton; Her husband's family: Mildred McHugh, Shiocton; Mary Ann Broehm, Milwaukee; Judy Swarta, Hillsboro Beach, Florida; Susan (Dennis) Ashauer, Greenville; Bob (Geniel) McHugh, Hortonville; Patrick McHugh, Shiocton; David (Kay) McHugh, Hortonville; and Dennis McHugh, Shiocton; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Gladys was also preceded in death by her parents and her father and mother-in-law, Arthur and Irene McHugh; sister-in-law, Kathy McHugh; brothers-in-law, Bob Broehm and Michael Swartz; nephew, Joseph Ashauer and his son, Dewey.
The funeral Mass for Gladys will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at 11 a.m. at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Hortonville with Fr. Jim Feely and Fr. Paul Vanden Hogen officiating. Interment will be in the SS Peter and Paul Parish Cemetery, Hortonville. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at SS Peter and Paul Church and also on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
