Donna M. Vanevenhoven, Little Chute, age 67, died Wednesday, August 8, 2007, at her home wrapped in the loving arms of her husband and surrounded by her family. Donna was born in Appleton on July 16, 1940, to the late Ray and Bertha (Kempen) Schuh Sr. On September 29, 1960, she married Don "Chick" Vanevenhoven at St. Nicholas Church in Freedom. Donna devoted her time to helping and caring for others. No matter what the occasion, she always sent a gift just to let you know she cared, whether it was a card or some of her Scotcheroos, which were clearly her specialty. Donna also had a huge goodie basket for the grandchildren to dig into every time they paid her a visit. She enjoyed working with all of her friends at the funeral dinners at St. John's and especially getting together with the "card club ladies." Her friends at the morning masses were also near and dear to her heart. Although Donna took on a lot of hobbies, her true joys in life were spending time with her family and friends.
Donna is survived by her husband of 46 years, Don; five children: Greg (Jill) of Freedom, Kathy (Mark) Verhagen of Little Chute, Randy of Little Chute, Gary of Little Chute and Jim (Joan) of Kaukauna; 16 grandchildren: Joy and Shane Vanevenhoven, Kyle, Deniece and Casey Krueger, Nick, Jenni and Danny Verhagen, Lizzy, Zach and Neko Vanevenhoven, Julious Gonzalez, Jessi and Adam Vanevenhoven, Dana and Craig Hammen; sisters and brothers: Betty Schumacher (Fred Luetschwager), Bernie Wege, Marrianne (Jon) Blakeslee, Carol (Pat) Heenan, Kathy Schuh-Ries, Gene (Carol), Matt (Sandee), Gordy (Linda), Bill (Mary Lou), Tony (Karen), Carl (Peggy), Leo (Barb), Ray (Joyce) and Hank (Vonnie) Schuh; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Carol (Jerry) Berghuis, Bonnie, Rob (Sue), John (Janine) and Paul (Sue) Vanevenhoven. Donna is further survived by godchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.
In addition to her parents, Donna was preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, Ervin and Martha Vanevenhoven; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Jo Ann Schuh, Don Schumacher, Gerry Vanevenhoven and Myra Vanevenhoven.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 12 p.m. at St. John Catholic Church in Little Chute on Saturday, August 11, 2007, with the Rev. David J. Funk, OFM Cap. officiating. Friends may call at the church Saturday from 9 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. directly at church. Committal St. John Cemetery, Little Chute.
We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Goggins, Dr. Speer, all the wonderful nurses in the Hematology and Radiology department at St. Elizabeth's Hospital and the Affinity Visiting Nurses. You have such a difficult job and you fulfilled your responsibility with tenderness, care and respect. A special thanks to all the family and friends for all the extra special care and attention that you extended toward "Mum." All the meals and cards were terrific. Each one put a smile on her face. Thank you to all!
