- See Image Donald J. Feller, 76, of 1600 S. 30th St. Escanaba, died Sunday October 2 4, 1999 at the Clement J. Zabocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee whe re he was a patient for almost two weeks. He was born April 18, 1923, t he son of Joseph P. Feller and the former Martha Deviley and was a lifelo ng Escanaba resident. He was a 1941 graduate of Escanba High school and la ter attended Michigan State University for 1 1/2 years and was then induct ed into the U.S. Army. He served in the Pacific Theater until his honorab le discharge. He was employed for Johnson Distributing in Escanaba f or 17 years and later was the manager of the Delft and Michigan Theaters f rom 1969 to 1971. From 1971 to his retirement in 1990 he owned and operat ed "Don's Bar" in Escanaba. He was an avid and passionate golfer all his l ife, having been the U.P. champion in 1946 and 1947. He was also a golf p ro at Blaney Resort for a time. He received two holes-in-one with his golf ing, once at Highland Country Club and once at the Escanaba Country Clu b. He also enjoyed bowling, hunting, gardening and playing cards. He w as an avid Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed conversation with friends a nd family. He especially loved to spend time with his two grandchildre n. He was a member of St. Thomas Church of Escanaba.Survivors include his wife, the former Elaine T. Cousineau, whom he marri ed Feb. 4, 1950 at St. Thomas Church; two sons, Joseph (LeAnn) Feller of M aywood Shores, Rapid River, and Robert Feller of Escanaba; two grandchildr en, Jessica and Paul of Maywood Shors; and nieces and nephews. In additi on to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Marcella Saums.Visitation will be held Thursday at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral home in Esc anaba from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Military rites will be conducted at 6 p.m. by t he Delta Veterans Council. Funeral services for Donald J. Feller will foll ow on Thursday at St. Thomas church in Escanaba with Rev. Fr. Michael Steb er officiating. Luncheon will follow the church services at the St. Thom as parish hall. Burial will be in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells.
